Flashback

Als auf der Apple WWDC 2010 das iPad vorgestellt wurde war ich nicht sonderlich überrascht – gab es doch genügend Gerüchte – zumal ist die Idee nicht neu. Bereits in den 90ern gab es die Idee des Touchscreen-PC die mit den „convertables“ auch seit 2005 marktreif und bezahlbar wurde.
Natürlich waren meine Kollegen und ich als Apple-Fan durchaus vom Design angetan (auch wenn mir der Spott mit dem „zu großen iPhone“ sicher war :-)) und weil unser Team sich täglich mit neuen Medien im Bildungskontext befasst, lag es auch nahe zu untersuchen, wie man das iPad dafür einsetzen kann.
Da wir uns bereits mit mobile learning und micro learning befasst hatten war der Schritt zum „in-house-Projekt“ nicht weit.
Nachdem wir den Direktor des Medienzentrums von der Zukunftsträchtigkeit unserer Ideen überzeugt hatten, war es im Juni soweit …

Die ersten iPod touch und iPhone erreichten uns und lösten wahre Eurphoriewellen aus. Aber erst die iPads, die leider verzögert erst im Juli ankamen zogen dann doch alle Blicke auf sich.

When the iPad was presented at the Apple WWDC 2010 I wasn’t impressed so much, because there were a lot of rumours before. And the idea of a convertable wasn’t new; in the late 1990’s some nerds already have had the vision of a computer with touchscreen and since 2005 you could buy them.
Sure my colleagues and me (I’m an Apple-Fan) were impressed by the slim design of the iPad. Because we daily deal with educational media and technology in teaching contexts,  we started researching how to use the iPad in the learning process.
After we convinced the director of the Media Centre following our „innovative“ ideas we  bought some mobile devices (not as much as Prof. Kerres but enough for us).
The first iPods touch and iPhones which have been delivered in june were received with enthusiasm. But when the iPads came in (which take place in july unfortunately) all eyes were placed on that 🙂
